The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all Point-of-Sales (PoS) operators comply with the directive to register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) within the specified deadline.
DAILY INSIDER gathered that security agencies have been tasked with arresting PoS operators who fail to adhere to this directive.
This move comes as part of the government’s strategy to combat kidnapping and curb the illicit flow of ransom payments to kidnappers.
The government noted by mandating the registration of PoS operators across the nation, authorities believe they can better track and apprehend those involved in receiving ransom payments from kidnap victims.
Hussaini Magaji, the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), made this announcement during the official launch of the CAC registration program for agents and merchants of financial technology companies (fintechs) held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The event also saw the inauguration of a 24-hour service centre aimed at providing prompt responses to inquiries and processing registration approvals for prospective applicants.
