Thiago Silva, the Brazilian defender, has announced that he will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the current season, bringing to a close his impressive four-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
The 39-year-old centre-back made this announcement in a video shared on Chelsea’s official social media account on Monday, April 29, 2024.

In his statement, the former PSG player, said, “Goodbyes are for those who leave and don’t come back.”
In a heartfelt message, the former Brazil and Chelsea captain revealed that the club side holds a special place in his heart.
He admitted that when he joined the club, he only planned to stay for a year, but ended up staying for four.
The veteran Brazilian defender emphasised that throughout his four years at Chelsea, he always gave his best.
However, he acknowledged that everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end, but added, “That doesn’t mean this is the definitive end.”
Since joining Chelsea on a free transfer in August 2020, Thiago Silva has been a key figure for the Blues, making 151 appearances and winning several prestigious honours, including the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
He said, “I think in everything I did here over the four years, I always gave my all. But, unfortunately, everything has a start, a middle and an end. That doesn’t mean that this is a definitive end. I hope to leave the door open so that in the near future I can return, albeit in another role here.”
