The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination will start on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
This was disclosed on Monday, April 29, by the Head of the Nigeria Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, stating that the council is fully prepared to conduct the examination.
DAILY INSIDER reports that Dangut mentioned that the exam will run for seven weeks and six days and conclude on June 24, 2024.
He revealed that WASSCE, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, State Ministries of Education, the Nigeria Police, other security agencies, and various stakeholders, is committed to delivering credible examinations for Nigerian students and the general public.
WAEC Unveils Timetable for 2024 May/June Exams in Nigeria
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the schedule for the 2024 May/June Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in Nigeria.
The exams will kick off on Tuesday starting with the practical planning sessions for Foods and Nutrition 3 and Home Management 3.
The announcement came via a document issued by WAEC through its official X account (Formerly Twitter).
It disclosed that candidates across the region will tackle the English Language exam on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
This includes English Language 2 (Essay), English Language 1 (Objective), and English Language 3 (Test of Orals), all slated for the same day.
On Thursday, May 30, 2024, students will face General Mathematics/Mathematics (Core) 2 (Essay) and General Mathematics/Mathematics (Core) 1 (Objective).
Economics 2 (Essay) and Economics 1 (Objective) are scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
Eid-al-Adha Break and Special Needs Accommodations
WAEC noted a break in the exam schedule from Monday, June 17, 2024, to Wednesday, June 19, due to the Eid-al-Adha public holiday.
Additionally, candidates with special needs (blind, deaf, and dumb) are to be given an extra time of one and a half times the duration allotted to other candidates.
