The Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF) has announced the launch of its educational grant program, designed to assist poor students from Oyo State.
The program is open to indigenes of Oyo State enrolled in universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education.
This initiative was revealed in a recent statement shared by the late senator’s wife on her official Facebook page.
Established in memory of the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, former Governor of Oyo State, the foundation aims to empower students.
It aims to help students who demonstrate academic excellence but face financial challenges in continuing their education.
DAILY INSIDER gathered that the application portal for the grant will be active from Tuesday, May 7 to Tuesday, May 21, offering eligible students the chance to apply.
According to that statement, to qualify for the programme, applicants must exhibit both academic merit and financial need.
The statement also mentioned that successful applicants will receive notification of their selection for the educational grant by Saturday, June 1, 2024.
Once selected, recipients will receive financial support to aid them in their academic pursuits.
FG Sets Minimum Age Requirement for University Entry
The Federal Government announced that the minimum age for entering any Nigerian university is now set at 18 years old.
The directive was issued by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, during a monitoring visit to the ongoing 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory, on Monday, April 22.
Mamman expressed concern that some students as young as 15 or 16 years old were taking the entrance examination.
