Nollywood icon Ganiyu Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ogunjimi in the Yoruba film industry, has passed away.
The tragic news was shared by filmmaker and colleague Kunle Afod in an Instagram post on Friday, April 26, 2024.
This sad event comes just a few days after the Nigerian film industry mourned the passing of another veteran actor, Zulu Adigwe.
Movie producer Stanley Nwoko announced Adigwe’s death on his Instagram page, expressing deep regret over the loss.
In his social media post, Afod expressed his efforts to assist Ogunjimi but acknowledged that God had other plans and prayed for Ogunjimi’s soul to rest in peace.
Afod wrote,” We tried our best but God loves you more. May his soul rest in peace. Baba Ogunjinmi RIP Sun re oooo.”
DAILY INSIDER reports that in 2024, Nollywood sadly bid farewell to the deaths of comedic talent Oyebamiji Quadri, fondly remembered as Sisi Quadri, who passed away at the age of 45 while undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness at the general hospital in Ogbomoso; John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu; Amaechi Muonagor, who also succumbed to illness later in the month; actress Aderounmu Adejumoke and also Junior Pope.
