Honourable Taoreed Abiola Shina Peller, a former lawmaker representing Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa federal constituency in the 9th National Assembly (NASS), has sued for love and peace in the month of Ramadan.
Peller made this admonition while addressing the press during his annual Ramadan lecture, which was held at the Aseyin palace, Iseyin, Oyo state, on Monday, March 25.
Daily Insider reports that the guest preacher of the day was Sheykh Jamiu Ajadi Sanusi (Amin Olohun).
Ramadan is about love, worship and impacts
Acknowledging the essence of Ramadan, the Ayedero of Yorubaland said men are created to worship God and make impact.
He described the month of Ramadan as a time designed for the “maintenance of body and souls”, adding that giving to the poor and needy is a basic necessity and command from God.
“God created us to worship him and to make impact. Ramadan is that time for the maintenance of body and soul. The impact is making sure people around you are well taken care of.
“It is very important to listen to the words of God and make sure that we share food and give to the needy. We need to share love. And that is what we are doing now,” he said.
1000 people fed in the spirit of love – Peller
The former lawmaker disclosed plans to feed over 1,000 people as a way of sowing love and the spirit of brotherhood in the holy month.
“We have made arrangements to feed one thousand people so they can understand that we are all connected together on the basis of Islam as brothers and sisters,” Peller said.
Aseyin charges Nigerians on unity and peace
Also speaking at the event, the Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu 1, charged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of peace, unity and love.
“We need unity in this community,” Aseyin said.
“I want everyone here to keep that in mind, go home and make sure they promote unity and peace. We need peace everywhere. Peace is needed in Iseyin, Oyo state and Nigeria.”
